Shortcuts make life soooo much easier and save oodles of time! Hummmm... probably why they are named shortcuts....

These short cuts are some of the new ones I am trying to learn so I thought I would share.  Now, don't wig out on me and go cross-eyed thinking you can't remember all of these short cuts.  I can't either!  That is why I have re-posted a special tip at the bottom to help us remember and learn the shortcuts we need. So KEEP READING!

CTRL + ESC :  Qpens the start menu!  Yay! No more searching on Windows 8!

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC:  Launches the Task Manager directly without closing everything else down when you use CTRL + ALT + DEL.

ALT + F4: Closes the current program that you are using.  This saves you the time of moving your mouse up to that teeny tiny x.

CTRL + W:  Closes the current window that you are in.  This is especially helpful when you have a lot of browser windows open but only want to close the top one.

F6:  Jump to the browser address bar from anywhere on the page.  Love this!  No more moving to my mouse and dragging the cursor to the address bar!  F6 and BOOM, you are there!

ALT + TAB: Cycle through all of your open windows on your computer!  One of my new favorites!  Love this since I always have lots open at one time and am constantly going back and forth between windows and programs.  It is also kind of fun....

CTRL + TAB: Cycle through all of your browser window!  Okay, I love this one too!  I don't have to go to my mouse and drag it to the tabs at the top of my browser anymore!  I can do this one with my 2 little fingers!  Fun!

Now you are probably wondering, "How am I ever going to remember all of these shortcuts?" Take a look below!

Have you ever seen those huge lists of keyboard shortcuts?   Just looking at one of those lists stresses me out.  How am I ever supposed to learn them all?  AND if I have to look up the shortcut every time I have to use it, how would that save me any time? Who knew that "shortcuts" could be so overwhelming and time consuming?

I wish I could take credit for this tip, but, of course, like the good teacher that I am, I have "borrowed" it from a technology class I had on Microsoft Excel.  The instructor handed out a sheet of about 100 or so keyboard "shortcuts" and then gave us this tip on how to learn them all.  Yes, my friends, I did say ALL.  And the tip is soooo simple ...

Write 3 keyboard shortcuts on sticky note.
Stick the note to your monitor.

Leave it there until you have learned those shortcuts and they become automatic.
Remove the learned shortcuts' sticky note.
Replace it with a sticky note with 3 new shortcuts.
Continue the cycle until you have learned all of the keyboard shortcuts!

Brilliant!

I am catching the tail end of the Meet the Teacher Blogger Linky by Stephanie at Falling Into First!  Late to the gate but still in the race I guess.  I am launching a new blog and wanted to introduce myself to my fellow bloggers since I love meeting the bloggers I follow.

My name is Amy Wendel.

I have been teaching for 12 years.  I am in my fourth year teaching 3rd grade.  I have taught Pre-k, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and now 3rd.  I love the early childhood years!

I am small town gal from Southeast Missouri transplanted by the Army to Clarksville, Tennessee.  My 2 children consider themselves Tennesseans.  I have a  son who just started attending the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Well, you really don't get more Tennessee than that!  I have had to learn how to say things like, "Go Big Orange!"  Ha!  I also have a daughter who is a sophomore in high school.  I am a recovering soccer mom and a current volleyball mom.  I love taking pictures of my kids and my daughter tolerates it much better than my son does.  Below are some of my recent favorites.

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...

My Family, Photography, Books, My Nook because of the Books,
Murder Mysteries, Computers, Netflix, DVRs, Desserts, Beaches, Pools, Reading by the Beach or Pool, Going to the Movies, Pedicures, Massages

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
Forensic Scientist- to help solve the murders I read about

THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.

Dedicated. Driven. Loyal.

FINISH THE SENTENCE, "________,  SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!"

Teachers are SO under-worked and overpaid, said no teacher ever!

Q: IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?

Andre Agassi.  I have had a crush on him forever.  Just showed my age….

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?

Faith Over All

Q: YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?

Only one?  I have to go with Solomon on this one.  Wisdom.  I figure if I have wisdom, the other things will follow.

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?

Work smarter, not harder.  I say this to my own kids ALL the time.  Let’s NOT take the long road.  I probably was supposed to put something really inspirational and teachy here but I still think that this applies.

Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” to get my country on!  I do live near Nashville folks.

Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?

Can I say neither?  I don’t function well without sleep.  So too early or too late are bad combinations for me.  Early to bed and then early to rise.  Summer rules are a little different.

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE RESOURCE THAT YOU'VE CREATED IN YOUR TPT SHOP?

I am pretty new to TPT but I must say the product I love the most is my Island Treasure Map Activity and Assessment.  I guess I love how much my student love this activity each year.  You see, I have done this activity for the last couple of years before I ever posted it on TPT.  My students go crazy for it, and I look forward to teaching it each year.
